One obvious way to increase traffic is to improve your search engine rankings, which can be accomplished through a variety of methods. SEO/SEM firms specialize in doing this, and so if you are unfamiliar with how to do it on your own, consider hiring one of these firms to help you.

One way to impact your results positively is META tags, for example. They are HTML codes that get placed at the top of your web page, and are very important. Keep in mind, however, that your META tags must match the content of your page or they will be worthless, which again, is why it may be best to bring in a professional.

Use other people’s network. Popular information products are found on Clickbank.com. You can create the same, and use people to refer business to you, while giving them a cut. Affiliate marketing is a great business, generating millions of dollars each day, and if you have a particular niche where people are hungry for information, and you can separate yourself with quality content, you’ll have an edge. Traffic can really take off.

Leverage existing network. Reach out to partners and ask to join / share in the mailing lists. You’d be surprised the amount of traffic and visibility it can yield. Make sure that it’s related to your business, and submit only quality information. A small promotional blurb on somebody else’s mailing list that carries distribution and authority, will not only help increase traffic to your site / page, but increase conversion to signups, downloads and sales.

One of the most popular ways to generate website traffic is through social media marketing campaigns. These can be in the form of coupons, contests, games, videos, and other media. Companies like DelMonte and Wal-Mart have used these types of campaigns to increase sales, build awareness of products and brands, and of course, generate traffic to their respective websites. The good news is that the methods for website traffic generation are virtually limitless, so if the first method that you try does not work, keep trying until you find the one that does.
